Situated in the centre of the town, in the eye-catching Gate House building, Totnes School is very much at the heart of the town. They school tries to offer their students as many different ways as possible to make real meaningful contact with local English people. We believe that the best way to learn a language is to talk to the people who speak it- and that learning about its social and cultural context makes your language learning into a life experience, not just a matter of classroom study!

Totnes is a truly special town, with a unique ambience and spirit. With a community of around 8000 people, it is a tolerant, welcoming place which embraces a diversity of different lifestyles and beliefs.
Totnes School of English is situated in the historic Gate House building in the High St in the centre of Totnes and this location emphasizes the school’s close relationship with the surrounding community.
As an organization, we continually strive to make the school into a centre for cross-cultural exchange through the learning of English and we look forward to welcoming new students from different countries to Totnes in 2010.

Totnes School has a wide variety of social activities that they organise regularly for their students. These include: Pub quiz at the ‘King Bill’ pub, Folk music at the Bay Horse Inn, Totnes Ghost Walk, DVD evening, Trip to Plymouth to go bowling, School party.

The Gate House building is set on 3 floors. There is a Student room with television, drinks and snacks machines, table tennis and a pool table. There are 8 computers for free adult student use outside lesson times and Wi-fi throughout the school. There is an Outside area with picnic tables for sunny days!
